When the U.S. Mods released their second album, Station 7, in 1989, many bands of the day were taking on more political weight.  "Sleeping With Father John", "Jumping Off Niagara Falls"and the title song "Station 7" set the tone for a forbidding perspective of where we've been and where we're heading.

The band members had played together for a few years at this point, and it's clear that the music has progressed both in style and lyrical focus, yet maintaining the free flowing, garage band sound that defines the U.S. Mods.

Over 300 college radio stations in the U.S.A. listed this release as on their Top 30 Playlist.

Station 7 - Song Lyrics

Sleeping With Father John

400 people dead in the streets of Bagdad

And here we are worryin’ about

Whether she’s got some disease

While we wonder whether we should

Take that test, they’re looking for a place

To bury the deadrest, I wonder what

I wonder what I’d think of you

If my life was that hard

It gets harder as it goes

That’s the only thing I know

And the thunder takes its toll

That’s the only thing I know

Sister Mary is sleeping with Father John

Nobody says but everybody in the parish knows

Look at that guy with the book in his hand

Selling those tickets to the promised land

He’s going to go to Hell, just like that God

He sells, oh well, the one thing he won’t tell ya

It gets harder as it goes

That’s the only thing I know

And the thunder takes its toll

As the wind rips through my clothes

Take my hand

Oh, take my hand

Olive take my hand

Wake The World

Am I awake?

Was that a dream?

I heard a scream

I saw four billion faces

Flash across the sky

I wonder why

I’m shaking

Heartaching

For the things I know and love

I’ll leave behind

Is dream chasing a crime?

I’ll find what I find

Well I wonder what to do

And I wonder what I’ll say

And I wonder what they’re thinking

Anyway, my vision’s clear

I fear no fear

And my logic won’t be steered

One life’s the cost

Save the masses, save the loss

Run hard with that cross

I’ll go, I’ll go

I’ll go wake the world

Station 7

As I read your letter

Tears swelled up inside my eyes

It’s time to think of important things

For worse or for better

I can’t get to sleep

I can’t even close my eyes

My mind is beating rampantly

It’s off the beat

When the lights won’t shine

On anybody

Meet me up at Station 7

They should have a card for me

That’s the gate that leads to Heaven

All I have to do is cross the line

Dividing good and evil

I don’t know why I keep thinking

Thoughts that only drag me down

They drag me down, they pull me under

I wonder what’s this spell I’m under

This is my philosophy

This is how I block out the fear

The punkers bang their head together

For them it’s clear

Is She Blind?

Every time I fall in love

With a girl she runs off

With another guy

Never give me a chance

To prove I’m serious

Always need a little time

To figure out what’s going on

I don’t know how much

Longer I should put up with this

Is she blind

Can’t she see I’m waiting

How much time

‘Til I find a love that’s true

Is she blind

My heart is sick of bleeding

How much time

“Til I find a love that’s true

Maybe I don’t say enough

I’m just not into standard lines

Maybe I just don’t understand

The female mind, maybe I’m just

Into having smoke blown in my eyes

But when the smoke gets cleared

She’s with another guy

Is she blind

Can’t she see I’m waiting

How much time

‘Til I find a love that’s true

Is she blind

My heart is sick of bleeding

How much time

“Til I find a love that’s true

When’s It Gonna Rain?

When’s it gonna rain

The rain would cool things down

And make the grass turn green

It’s all dried up on the ground

And everybody’s grumpy

When they’re driving home from work

Someone always drives too slowly

That guy must be a jerk

It’s a scorching summer day

Have we drifted towards the sun

It’s a scorching summer day

It’s burning everyone

When’s it gonna rain

The forest started fire

It’s really getting bad

Nation’s fighting over water

The dust is getting thicker

And everybody’s mad

If it doesn’t rain by Christmas

I’m sure we’ll be at war

The Dreaded Year

So people are going hungry

On the darker side of the sea

But I barely make enough money for me

And if things don’t start getting better

I may even lose my job

I think we’re due to see a miracle by God

Bad times are brewing

The signs stand clear

We’re going home again

It’s the dreaded year

And when it looks like you’re going no where

Just open up your eyes

Success is known for wearing a disguise

Bad times are brewing

The signs stand clear

We’re going home again

It’s the dreaded year

It’s summertime then wintertime

Then spring will take its place

But we’re still all stuck

On this little ball in outer space

And days will come and days will go

And years will take their place

But remember the only home we’ve found

Is Earth, round face

The Train

For those of us who think alike

There’s news from up above us

They say soon it will be time to lead us home

And the day is getting closer

To the bomb that cracks the crust

It’s just a matter of the elements

Returning into dust

On the train

On the train

As we slip into the future

On a vision from the train

We are the hope, the rope

The Heaven sent

The ones that will remain

And like all the greatest leaders

Who have led us into war

One of three it will be

One of these and not before

On the train

On the train

From the train I see the future

On the train visit the past

On the train

But one thing puzzles me

Why do they call it home

On the train

On the train

On the train I see the future

On the train visit the past

With the hope of seeing the last sunrise

Before the blast

Bricks

Why are U killing me

U said U were mine yeah

Have I been swimming with bricks on

All this time

Now my baby what’s it gonna be

Are U in love with U

Or are U in love with me

Now I’m swimming with bricks on

Swimming with bricks on

Swimming with bricks on

Swimming with bricks on can’t U see

Swimming with bricks U gotta swim with me

I don’t know why

U want to stab

I don’t know why

U would want to rob

I don’t know why

U would want to shoot me

I never did try to bring U down

I got U untied when U were bound

I got U the drugs that keep U happy

Now I’m swimming with bricks on

Swimming with bricks on

Swimming with bricks on

Swimming with bricks on can’t U see

Swimming with bricks U gotta swim with me

Let’s go swimming

Jumping Off Niagara Falls

Hey all you skeptical

Self-indulging citizens

Leaving the lives of your children

In the hands of these

Shifty politicians

I’ve heard of doing stupider things

Like jumping off Niagara Falls

The power boys are beginning to loosen

Their shirts again

And everybody’s cashing in on

Iraq verses Iran

Yeah we can always get more oil somewhere

A war’s ok if it’s fought over there

Diving into shallow water

Diving into shallow water

It’s hard enough

When you’re just trying

To pay the bills on time

Yet you keep yelling at me

“We got to fight to keep those commies in line!”

In Alabama they banned books this year

‘Cause they’re telling their kids

What they don’t want to hear

Diving into shallow water

Diving into shallow water

Headlong to a bloody slaughter

Diving into shallow water

The surface hides the jagged rocks

Not that we would think to look

We’re plunging into extinguishment

]ust like in that old book

I’ve heard of doing stupider things

Like jumping off Niagara Falls

Not To Be Found

I was looking around

And I thought I saw her

But it only was a dream

After a while

I noticed everything

Was not as it would seem

I wanted to scream, but I was silent

I started to run, but I was still

I wanted to hide, but it was obvious

Concealment did no good

Maybe my mind has caught me dreaming

Are the lights on in my head

Suddenly time has got me thinking

Of the things she never said

Maybe my mind has kept me dreaming

In the morning I’m alone bedside my bed

I was driving through town

On a misty morning, several years

From now, today

Across the street I saw her waiting

For the light to turn her way

I wanted to scream, but I was silent

I started to run, but I was still

I wanted to hide, but it was obvious

Concealment did no good

Maybe my mind has caught me dreaming

Are the lights on in my head

Suddenly time has got me thinking

Of the things she never said

Maybe my mind has kept me dreaming

In the morning I’m alone beside my bed

She was not to be found

On a misty morning

Not to be found

On a rainy day

Not to be found

And I was looking all over

Not to be found

She’s gone away

Twirl Girl

You’ve got me in a twirl girl, I don’t know if you’re still mine

You’ve got me in a twirl girl, what happened to all that love shine

Believing all the things you said, I feel like you’re kicking me in the head

You’ve got me in a twirl girl, our love just isn’t going right

The first time you got your hands on me

I was looking for a fish in that big ol’ sea

Don’t look out and don’t see in

But can you please wait baby cause I’m trying to sin

And if you don’t think that we’re doing it right

Then we can start right here and we can do it all night

And you can suck…all my loving in

Yes you can suck…all my loving in

And you can lick my bone and rattle my hat

And you can kill me with your shoving loving heart attack

Now what do you think about that

You’ve got me in a twirl girl, I don’t know if you’re still mine

You’ve got me in a twirl girl, what happened to all that love shine

Believing all the things you said, I feel like you’re kicking me in the head

You’ve got me in a twirl girl, our love just isn’t going right

Maybe I said something wrong

Was my language too tough, my breath too strong

Maybe I didn’t give you rings

But those rocks and stones they just don’t mean a thing

And if you don’t think that we’re doing it right

Then we can start right here and we can do it all night

And you can suck…all my loving in

Yes you can suck…all my loving in

And you can lick my bone and rattle my hat

And you can kill me with your shoving loving heart attack

Now what do you think about that

Twirl girl, twirl girl

Twirl girl, twirl girl

You’ve got me in a twirl girl, I don’t know if you’re still mine

You’ve got me in a twirl girl, what happened to all that love shine

Believing all the things you said, I feel like you’re kicking me in the head

You’ve got me in a twirl girl, our love just isn’t going right

Waiting All My Life

Time will come and time will go

This much I know I know

If I can’t keep a promise to myself

Then who can I believe in

I’ve seen the story in her eyes

Seen the fire in the skies

But I know I’ll keep on searching

‘Til I find what I’ve been for

I’ve been waiting all my life

I’ve been waiting all my life

Paint the picture, draw the line

Say what you have in mind

But don’t let another moment by you

No don’t let another moment by you

The future’s built on what you and I do

And history’s (history repeats itself)

We’re history for those who follow

I’ve been waiting all my life

I’ve been waiting all my life

For this day

Father John’s (reprise)

The world is changing

And it’s not going to be that long

My mind is swollen from the things

I know that might go wrong

When I spend too much time

Thinking about things to come

I try to find a way

To create a distraction

I bid adieu

I know I’ll never think of you

Now that life is that hard

It gets harder as it goes

That’s the only thing I know

As the thunder takes its toll

And the wind rips through my clothes

Watch the skies falling below

As the rivers turn to stone

I’ll not fear the mighty glow

That’s the only thing I know

Learn your lesson, learn it well

‘Cause if we don’t start soon

We’re gonna go through Hell

It’s the only thing, the only thing

It’s everything, it’s everything we know

Let’s Take ‘em Away

Let’s take ‘em away

I don’t want to die like that

Don’t give me that blood

It could be the poison that kills me

I’m washing my hands but I still

Don’t wear a glove

How many of us

Will die as creatures of desire

The times have changed

But they’ve never changed

This fast before

My body’s aged

But I’m still not sure
